The Boy Next Door
Rating 5 out of 10
This was not a movie high on my to see list, but was bored and the movie I wanted to see was not playing. I'm one of the few that's not a big fan of Jennifer Lopez. Don't dislike her, just she doesn't yank my chain. I will say in this movie she has been working out and looks good.
This movie as you can tell from the trailer is about an attractive and popular high school teacher (Lopez) . She is also separated from her cheating husband and living with her mostly troubled teenage son. She has put off filing for divorce and getting back on the dating market yet just can get herself to do it.
Along comes the elderly neighbors super hunky young nephew who is very friendly and befriends the troubled son. When Lopez comes home to an empty house from a bad first date with a rude man she ends up in the same house with the hunky neighbor. He has the hots for teacher and in a moment of passion she gives in and sleeps with him. When she wakes up the next morning she immediately regrets her decision and wants to distance herself from the guy. Not so fast. Hunky neighbor is nuts and does not want to let go. Turns out he has a hostile side and does not like being dumped. Bad turns to worse and here we go.
I love Halloween but am not a fan of horror movies. Main reason is too many unlikely scenario where the damsel in distress smacks the bad guy in the head with a club then drops the club beside said bad guy and walks away with her back him like there is no chance he will get back up and come after her. That doesn't scare me it aggravates me. Your milage may vary. This movie has way too many things like this for my taste.
It's not a bad movie. I was mildly entertained. Many will enjoy it more than I did.
